hee...juz read e extract fr e bk "Worship Matters"...
think this paragraph makes a lot of sense...so i shall juz kope it in my blog...:)
SKILLS TO DEVELOP Our varied skills should function like the frame around a classic painting. If the frame is too bold or extravagant, we'll hardly notice the picture it displays. On the other hand, if the frame is cheap, shabby, or marred, we'll wonder why such a masterpiece is surrounded by junk. The right frame complements the picture in all the right ways, directing our eyes to the brilliance of the artist, not to the frame.
John Piper calls the right balance "undistracting excellence". It's a proficiency that doesn't draw attention to itslf but rather points away from itself.
the way we lead worship, play our instruments, sing n even arrange e songs should b helping pple to worship God more freely n easily...it should never b a self-gratifying thing...neither should it b a performance unto pple, waiting for pple to come n say "hey, i liked ur playing today"...it should only b for e audience of 1...
think all e above is common knowledge to us who r in worship ministry for some time...yet, sometimes it's juz so easy to have e wrong focus...so i guess...self-evaluation is key!...:)
